About

Annette Nichols likes to take a visceral approach in her work by creating layers using various mediums that articulate a sense of emotionalism and depth. Her artistic direction is largely influenced by music, film, women’s equality, and animal rights. Her 2-year San Francisco residency (late 2000’s) was fundamental in Annette’s creative development as an artist. Since California, her paintings have become radically more gestural and expressive than her early geometric abstraction series.

Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and featured in numerous media publications including Jane Magazine, Elements Magazine, The Purposeful Mayo, and more.

She received a Fine Arts degree in Painting through Pratt Institute’s partnership with the Delaware College of Art & Design, and holds a master’s degree in Visual Art.

Additionally, Annette has over a decade of experience working for Arts organizations including serving as Collections Manager at the Delaware Art Museum and Somerville Manning Gallery. Her work as an artist and facilitator has provided her with extensive knowledge about art operations and best practices in the field of historical and contemporary art.

Annette currently lives outside of Philadelphia with her husband and cats.

She Bleeds excites the canvas with a vivid emotional intensity. Her piece was a wonderful addition while on loan to my private gallery. I look forward to seeing more from Annette’s work to come.”
